Passes:
Passes for one-day check out are available through the
Library for several area venues. The Library currently
has family passes for Shelburne Farms and for the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum.
The Library also has a pass for the Echo Leahy Center
for Lake Champlain. The Echo pass provides reduced
admission prices for up to two adults and three youths.
The Vermont State Department of Libraries and the Department of Forests, Parks, & Recreation have co-sponsored the donation of a free VT State Parks Day Pass to every library in Vermont. The library pass admits one vehicle holding up to eight people to a Vermont State Park Day Area for one day. A list of the eligible Vermont State Day Areas is available at the Library.
These one-day passes may be used by South Burlington residents who have a South Burlington Community library card. Call the Library at 652-7080 to reserve a pass for a specific date. The pass may be picked up at the Circulation desk in the morning and must be returned at the end of the day so others may enjoy the use of the pass.
Books to Bring on Vacation: While you are planning your summer vacation, remember to select a few small, light-weight paperbacks from the Library that fit easily into your travel tote or beach bag. The Library has a designated section of popular fiction paperbacks that are available to you with no specified loan period, no fines for lost books and no fees for damaged books. Also, paperbacks from this section may be borrowed whether you have a library card or not. Please do stop by the Circulation Desk to tell a librarian how many paperbacks you are taking (and to be sure that these are not ones that must be checked out with a library card)…and please return them at your convenience, so that other readers can enjoy them. This separate paperback collection is stocked entirely through donations to the Library of recent, gently used paperbacks. The paperbacks in this section are not listed in the Library Catalog. To assist you in browsing, they are labeled and shelved according to these categories:General Fiction, Mysteries, Romance,Science Fiction & Fantasy. Happy Summer Reading!
Homebound Residents: Do you know a reader who needs books delivered? South Burlington homebound residents who do not own a car, who cannot drive or who are disabled may request monthly delivery of books on loan. Please call the Library at 652-7080.
Use your Library card to enjoy great music: The South Burlington Community Library has just subscribed to Music Online For Public Libraries,
a music database that can be accessed on any computer, by typing
in the barcode on the back of your library card. Users can
create their own individual play lists, for listening to their
favorites. Some recordings can be downloaded for a fee. |
