For every 25 overdue reminders not sent your library staff will be able to purchase one new book for the collection.

For every 25 overdue reminders not sent library staff will be able to devote two staff hours to other public services.

Audio Book Players and Audio Books

The library has a collection of over 1500 audio-books in cassette and CD format. The Rotary Club of South Burlington donated five cassette tape players to the library in 2003. The cassette tape players are available for patrons to borrow with the audio-books.

Large Print Books

The Library has a large collection of large-print fiction and non-fiction books for people who require this format. The Library also subscribes to Reader's Guide in Large Print and News For You, a large-print newspaper.

Museum Passes

Passes for one-day check out are available through the Library for several area venues. The Library currently has a  family pass for Shelburne Farms which is valid through May 31, 2008 and a pass for The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum valid mid-May through mid-October. The Library also has a pass for the Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. This pass provides reduced admission prices for up to two adults and three youths.

These one-day passes may be used by South Burlington residents who have a South Burlington Community library card. Call the library to reserve the pass for a specific date. The pass may be picked up at the Circulation desk in the morning and must be returned at the end of the day so others may enjoy the use of the pass. This is an excellent opportunity to visit the fine programs these museums offer.

Book drop

There is an exterior book drop directly in front of the library entrance that can be used 24 hours a day for the convenience of our patrons. Patrons may also return books to the Hannaford's Service Desk on Shelburne Road. Library volunteers pick up the books at this location three times a week.

Children's Kits

These canvas story bags have books, activities, or puzzles related to a theme: Colors, Numbers, All About Me, Wheels, Farms, Dinosaurs, and Old Favorites.

The bags may be checked out to Day Care Providers, Pre-schools, and home school parents. Parents who are South Burlington Library cardholders may also check out the bags.

Bookbags for Kindergarteners can be checked out to parents whose children will enter Kindergarten.

Book Dedications

Each infant of a South Burlington resident has a book dedicated at birth. A letter is sent to the family and the book is placed in the Library. This program began in 1990 and each year, in May, there is a Baby Brunch to honor the parents and their children.

Library books may be dedicated to a loved one as a remembrance.

Please contact the librarian for advice on selecting a book.

Suggestion Forms

We welcome your suggestions and feedback. Please use the online form or the suggestion box at the Circulation Desk. Please use the book request form for suggestions of books that you would like to see added to our collection.
