Author Interview at the Library: “Write the Book” radio show creator and host, Shelagh Shapiro, interviewed author and extraordinary gardener, Charlie Nardozzi, at the Library on April 11th. An enthusiastic audience provided Charlie detailed questions. Listen to the program online. In the archives of “Write the Book” online, you’ll find more great interviews, including one with memoirist, Kristin Kimball, which was also taped at the Library, last July.
June is Fly Fishing Month at Your Library: Catch fly fishing fever in June even if you are not a fisherman! Check out a book from the Library’s display on this theme in June, or attend any or all of three exciting programs at your Library. Visiting experts have created slide shows especially to present here, bringing you fishing adventure tales, “how to” tips, and insight into the history, art and joys of the sport. The evening program on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m. is not for adults only. It is a perfect opportunity to introduce your children to a hobby that could become a lifelong pastime to share as a family. On Wednesday, June 13th at noon, history and art buffs can view artifacts from the American Museum of Fly Fishing. Then on Wednesday, June 20th at noon, travel by library chair from chilly Lake Ontario to tropical Bonaire Island.
Renew Books From Home: You may renew your checked-out items through this website. First, select the Catalog Tab above and then the Create Account button on upper right hand corner of the screen. You will need to enter your full barcode located on the back of your South Burlington Community Library card as well as your last name. Select Next button and fill in fields as requested. If you already have a log-in, select Log In button as before. You may change your password by choosing Forgot your password? button under Log in to Destiny tab.
For Job Seekers: It is easy to use the powerful “Career Transitions” online resource available to all Library cardholders. Go to Vermont Online Library, then type in your library card barcode. Scroll down the list of all the great databases available to you, until you see the recently added, “Career Transitions”. You can use the database as a “guest” or you can create a personal file, at no charge either way. Follow the friendly directions to learn how to view position listings by job title for any state in the nation, to compose and change a resume, or to access job search tips. Try describing the job title you are seeking with different words and you will see how quickly this tool displays and modifies a list of job ads for you to consider. Please let a librarian know whether you like using this resource or if you need assistance.
Homebound Residents: Do you know a reader who needs books delivered? South Burlington homebound residents who do not own a car, who cannot drive or who are disabled may request monthly delivery of books on loan. Please call the Library at 652-7080.
