Welcome to the South Burlington Community Library

The Vermont Online Library (VOL) offers a wide array of electronic information databases on a variety of topics geared to a variety of age levels, for both generalists and specialists.

Try our new downloadable audiobooks at Listen Up Vermont. Downloads are free with a South Burlington library card.

Renew Books From Home: You may renew your checked-out items through this website.  First, select the Catalog Tab above and then the Create Account button on upper right hand corner of the screen. You will need to enter your full barcode located on the back of your South Burlington Community Library card as well as your last name. Select Next button and fill in fields as requested. If you already have a log-in, select Log In button as before. You may change your password by choosing Forgot your password? button under Log in to Destiny tab.

Museum Passes: Passes for one-day check out are available through the Library for several area venues. The Library currently has family passes for Shelburne Farms, the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and the Birds of Vermont Museum in Huntington. The Library also has a pass for the Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. This pass provides reduced admission prices for up to two adults and three youths. Please check individual websites for schedule for each venue.
The Vermont State Department of Libraries and the Department of Forests, Parks, & Recreation have co-sponsored the donation of a free State Parks Day Pass to every library in Vermont. The library pass admits one vehicle holding up to eight people to a Vermont State Park Day Area for one day. A list is available of the eligible Vermont State Day Areas at the Library.
Valid until individual park closes for season. This year we also have a pass to the Vermont State Historic Sites.

Local Reading Groups “Top Picks – 2010” Brochure Available: Among the many local reading groups which meet regularly in and near South Burlington, seven elected to offer their “top picks” (book suggestions) for a compilation by the Library.  Thanks to all those who “voted”! ’Curious about what others are reading?  Pick up your copy of the brochure at the Library. Please let us know whether your book group is interested in participating next year.

Got Romance? The Library’s collection of donated paperback romance books is dwindling this summer, as so many readers select these to enjoy while on vacation.   Please consider replenishing our supply by bringing in your gently used (near “mint” condition) romance novels in small paperback format.  These should be recent (post 2005) mainstream fiction by authors such as Mary Balogh, Jude Deveraux, Christina Dodd, Dorothy Garlock, Julie Garwood, Jayne Ann Krentz, Johanna Lindsey,  Elizabeth Lowell, Debbie Macomber, Judith McNaught, Carla Neggers, Julia Quinn,  Luanne Rice, Nora Roberts, and the ever popular, Danielle Steel.  (The Library will add donations of Harlequin type editions to our book sale stock, but not to our circulating collection).  Thanks in advance for sharing a little romance

Homebound Residents: Do you know a reader who needs books delivered? South Burlington homebound residents who do not own a car, who cannot drive or who are disabled may request monthly delivery of books on loan. Please call the Library at 652-7080.

Use your Library card to enjoy great music: The South Burlington Community Library subscribes to Music Online, a music database that can be accessed on any computer, by typing in the barcode on the back of your library card.  Users can create their own individual play lists, for listening to their favorites.  Some recordings can be downloaded for a fee.
