Bookmobile News: We are very pleased and excited to announce that The Rotary Club of South Burlington will purchase and donate a Bookmobile to The South Burlington Community Library. The objective will be to provide more equitable service to children by bringing “the library experience” to those who might not otherwise be able to come to the library; to increase retention of reading skills during the summer months; to improve literacy; to foster the joy of reading; and to open doors to learning. The Bookmobile will be used to deliver books to children in South Burlington neighborhoods during the summer months.
The major fundraiser for the Bookmobile will be a Golf Tournament at The Vermont National Country Club on June 9th. Call Louise Murphy if you are interested in helping with the Bookmobile fundraising and if you would like to play in the June 9th Golf Tournament Fundraiser for the Bookmobile. We need to find 20 more golfers to make the fundraiser a success. Please help us to spread the word to golfers who might be interested in supporting the cause and enjoying a great day of golfing, followed by a fine dinner at the Vermont National Country Club.
Freedom Fund – Support Our Troops: The Freedom Fund donation box will be back in our library from May 19th to May 31st. Please consider helping out our troops by donating any of the following supplies on those dates: White cotton socks, powdered drink mix, hard candy, gum, toothbrushes, CD’s, dental floss, deodorant, dark plain t-shirts, microwave snacks, vitamins, air fresheners, playing cards, small board games, small fans, towels, eye care products, washcloths, DVD’s, boxers, mini flashlights, nail clippers, lip balm, sunscreen, crackers, trail mix, easy cheese, pull top cans of fruit, peanuts, popcorn, small Tupperware. Thank-you.
Use your Library card to enjoy great music: The South Burlington Community Library has just subscribed to
Music Online For Public Libraries,
a music database that can be accessed on any computer, by typing
in the barcode on the back of your library card. Users can
create their own individual play lists, for listening to their
favorites. Some recordings can be downloaded for a fee. |
